Thieves trapped by neighbours call police for rescue

In an unusual turn of events, two thieves in Rourkela's Basanti Colony found themselves in a predicament on the night of April 29. After breaking into a house, they were trapped by vigilant neighbours and had to dial the police helpline 112 for their own safety, fearing public assault.

Incident Details

The accused, identified as Simbrumb alias Nanak Singh (30) of Plantsite and Satyendra Kumar Singh (32) of Chhend, reportedly prized open the gate lock of a two-storeyed house. They entered the ground floor, where tenant Madhav Kisan resides, while landlord Ganesh Biswal and the tenant were away. The duo allegedly broke open an almirah and stole gold and silver ornaments.

Neighbourhood Alert

An elderly neighbour, watching TV, heard suspicious noises and alerted others. Residents quickly assembled, locking the main gate and rooftop access, effectively trapping the intruders inside. Police were also notified.
