India is not facing any shortage of energy, and the supply of LPG and oil remains comfortable, according to Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The minister made these remarks on 13 June 2026, addressing concerns over rising global oil prices triggered by the Iran conflict.
Global Oil Prices Rise Amid Iran Conflict
Puri noted that oil prices have increased worldwide following the Iran situation. However, he emphasized that India’s energy requirements are being met adequately. The government is closely monitoring the situation to ensure stable supplies.
LPG and Oil Supply Situation
The minister stated that there is no shortage of LPG cylinders or petroleum products in the country. He assured that the supply chain is robust and capable of handling any fluctuations in demand or international market volatility.
Government Measures
To mitigate the impact of rising global prices, the government has taken several steps, including diversifying import sources and maintaining strategic reserves. Puri reiterated that the government is committed to ensuring energy security for all citizens.
India’s energy sector remains resilient, with adequate stocks and proactive management to address any challenges arising from geopolitical tensions.
