Visakhapatnam: A 22-year-old delivery executive, Puvvula Manikanta, was arrested for targeting locked houses while delivering groceries in parts of the district. His primary motivation went beyond timely deliveries; he was also on the lookout for locked houses to burgle later.
Modus Operandi
Manikanta broke into locked houses during the daytime in the Bobbili, Badangi, and Seethanagaram localities and fled with valuables. He identified potential targets while delivering goods, then struck the same houses later when they were unoccupied.
Arrest and Investigation
His luck ran out when police caught him roaming near the Mettavalasa locality, planning another burglary. Investigation revealed that Manikanta, a native of Rompilli village under Ramabhadrapuram mandal, turned to crime in 2023. He was involved in over ten property offences and sold stolen goods to K Baleswara Rao, a gold merchant in Saluru.
Police recovered approximately 200 grams of gold ornaments from the duo. Further investigation is underway to uncover more details about the crimes.
