In a shocking incident highlighting targeted violence, Harman Singh Kapoor, a UK-based Sikh activist known for speaking against Khalistani extremism, has reported that his London home was attacked multiple times within a single hour. Kapoor has accused the Metropolitan Police of failing to respond to his urgent calls for help during the terrifying ordeal, which occurred while he was out of the country.
Urgent Pleas on Social Media Ignored by Police
On Friday, Harman Singh Kapoor took to social media platform X to post a series of desperate messages. He publicly appealed for help, stating that his property was being vandalised repeatedly. Kapoor explicitly accused the Metropolitan Police of refusing to attend the scene despite his multiple calls. Fearing for his family's safety, he asked for patriots to come to his home for protection, as the police were "not doing their job."
In a subsequent post, Kapoor shared that the situation had worsened. He even posted CCTV footage showing masked individuals vandalising his property. "Shame on you UK police. I insisted that you visit my property, but you refused. Now my home has been attacked again twice in the span of one hour. What are you waiting for?" he wrote in frustration.
A History of Threats and Violence
This is not the first time Harman Singh Kapoor has faced threats due to his public stance. In 2023, he claimed his car was shot at and vandalised in West London after he posted a video criticising the Khalistan movement. Social media accounts linked to British Indian groups reported that his family had received graphic death and rape threats at the time, though UK police did not issue a formal statement on these claims.
Later that same year, Kapoor alleged his restaurant was attacked shortly after the Indian High Commission in London was vandalised. He stated that attackers demanded he remove his critical video, raise pro-Khalistan slogans, and burn the Indian flag, or face death. According to reports from Bitter Winter magazine, his wife and daughter were specifically targeted with threats.
Community Steps In Where Police Falter
After more than two hours of alleged police inaction, Kapoor confirmed in a fourth post that help had finally arrived, but not from the authorities. "Patriots gathered outside my house. Thanks a lot for helping in time of need," he wrote, indicating that members of the public had responded to his calls for assistance.
This incident raises serious questions about the protection offered to individuals who speak out against extremism. UK-based journalist Charlotte Littlewood had also highlighted a similar situation in 2023, noting that Kapoor's family was awaiting police help during an ongoing attack. The repeated targeting of Kapoor and his family underscores the volatile environment faced by critics of radical movements, even on foreign soil.
