Trump Suggests White House Football Reunion with Obama, Biden on Usha Vance's Podcast
Trump Proposes Football Reunion with Obama, Biden

President Donald Trump proposed a reunion of former presidents, including Barack Obama and Joe Biden, at the White House to watch a football game together. The suggestion came during an appearance on the podcast hosted by U.S. Second Lady Usha Vance, released on Friday ahead of the 250th anniversary of American Independence.

Podcast Appearance and Book Reading

Trump appeared on the episode of 'Storytime with the Second Lady,' reading the children's book 'President’s Play!' published by the White House Historical Association. As he flipped to a page depicting a president hosting a live Super Bowl viewing at the White House, Trump shared the idea with Vance.

'Maybe I should invite Barack Hussein Obama, Joe Biden, with the Bushes - or Bush. Maybe I should invite some of those people to watch a football game together,' Trump said. 'Wouldn’t that be a nice story? The press would go wild,' he added. Vance responded, 'A president reunion? That would be fun.'

Trump's Commentary on Past Presidents

During the podcast, Trump offered humorous remarks about various former presidents. He praised Bill Clinton, noting that Clinton had a running track built at the White House. 'That’s nice. I didn’t even know that until recently, but he had a track built at the White House,' Trump said. 'I don’t think I’ll ever do that. I don’t see myself doing that. I don’t know. But he actually was a nice guy. I like Bill Clinton a lot. I still do.'

Trump also commented on William Howard Taft, describing him as 'a large man, very large' who loved baseball and hot dogs. 'He was our heaviest president, and I have to be careful cause I don’t want to supersede his record. And a thing like that would be possible if I allowed it to happen,' Trump joked.

Context and Reactions

Trump, who frequently criticizes Obama and mocks Biden in public speeches, took a conciliatory tone during the podcast. The book he read showcased how presidents throughout history spent their leisure time. 'You know, my attitude is you’re at the White House for a short period of time and it’s an honour to be here and you should work for the people, right?' Trump said.

The podcast episode, released on YouTube, features Vance interviewing guests as they narrate books to children. The proposal for a bipartisan football gathering has generated attention, with Trump suggesting it would be a positive story that the media would cover extensively.
