A tragic incident has shaken the academic community in Greater Noida. A first-year engineering student, aged 19, allegedly died by suicide at a private hostel on Tuesday evening. The young man was pursuing his degree from the Delhi Technical Campus (DTC) located in Knowledge Park.
Discovery of the Incident
The student resided at the SNH Residency hostel, situated close to his college. According to police officials, concern arose on Tuesday evening when the youth had not emerged from his room for an extended period. Hostel staff and fellow students grew suspicious after repeated knocks and calls to his phone went unanswered.
"The door was eventually opened, and he was found hanging inside the room," stated a senior police officer. The authorities at the hostel were immediately alerted, and they subsequently informed the police. It was noted that the student's roommate was not present at the time of the incident.
Suicide Note Points to Academic Stress
A police team swiftly arrived at the scene and took custody of the body. During a search of the room, investigators recovered a suicide note. In the note, the student reportedly expressed that he was under immense academic pressure and mental stress. He explicitly mentioned that no individual was responsible for his death and requested that no action be taken against anyone.
Police added that the preliminary investigation strongly suggests this is a case of suicide. "The suicide note is being sent for forensic examination to confirm its authenticity," the senior officer said. To understand the full context and circumstances that led to this extreme step, the police are questioning the student's friends, the hostel warden, and authorities from Delhi Technical Campus.
Ongoing Investigation and Aftermath
The student's family has been informed about the heartbreaking incident. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Police officials stated that further legal action will be taken only after receiving the post-mortem report and the findings from the forensic examination of the suicide note.
This incident has once again brought the critical issue of mental health and academic pressure among engineering students in India into sharp focus. The community awaits the completion of the investigation for more clarity.
