Seychelles Bestows Highest Honour on PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the distinction 'Guardian of the Blue Horizon' by Seychelles President Patrick Herminie on Sunday, June 28, 2026, in Victoria. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that this is the first time this honour has been awarded, recognizing Modi's green leadership and commitment to advancing the interests of developing countries, particularly Small Island Developing States.

Recognition for Climate Action and Blue Economy

The honour acknowledges Modi's longstanding dedication to promoting the Blue Economy, climate action, and sustainable management of ocean resources. The MEA highlighted initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance, Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam (Plant for Mother), and the International Big Cat Alliance as part of his vision. This recognition joins previous honours including the FAO Agricola Medal, Seoul Peace Prize, and UN Champion of the Earth Award.

Dedicated to Environmental Champions

PM Modi dedicated the award to all countries committed to environmental conservation and fighting climate change. He emphasized that the recognition, coinciding with 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles, would further strengthen their special friendship.
