Trichy: Online registration for undergraduate (UG) admission in government colleges across Tamil Nadu commenced on Friday. The registration process will remain open from May 7 to May 29, as per the official notification. Students who have completed their Class 12 examinations are now eligible to apply through the official website https://www.tngasa.in/.
Help Desk and College Support
Institutions are gearing up to assist applicants during this period. K Angammal, principal of Thanthai Periyar Government Arts and Science College, stated that a few students had already visited the college seeking admission information. Since the Class 12 results were not declared on Thursday, the college collected their details and requested them to return after the announcement of results. A dedicated help desk has been established to address student queries. Although the entire process can be completed online, students are also welcome to visit the college in person, where staff will assist them with the online registration procedure.
Class 12 Results and New Course Code System
The Class 12 examination results are expected to be announced on Friday. Sources revealed that a new "course code" system has been introduced this year for admissions to government colleges. In previous years, applicants could only select their preferred course. Under the revised system, students can now choose both the course and their preferred medium of instruction — either Tamil or English. College professors noted that this change would simplify the admission process by allowing colleges to identify students who have specifically applied for a particular course stream and medium of instruction. They emphasized that the revised procedure provides greater clarity and flexibility for students in selecting both their desired programme and language of study.
For further details, students can check the official website or visit their respective colleges. The new system aims to streamline admissions and enhance transparency.
