Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has released dramatic footage showing missiles streaking into the night sky during what it describes as coordinated attacks on U.S. military targets across the Gulf region. The strikes reportedly targeted the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, and the U.S. al-Azraq base in Jordan.
Retaliation for US Strikes
Tehran claims the attacks were carried out in response to recent U.S. strikes on Iranian military sites following the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC issued a fiery warning, declaring that its "iron fists" would continue to strike until the United States is driven from the region.
US and Regional Response
U.S. and regional officials report that air defense systems intercepted most of the incoming missiles and drones, minimizing damage. However, the IRGC's video release underscores the escalating tensions between the two nations.
The video, shared by state-affiliated media, shows multiple launch sites and explosions in the distance. Analysts note that the choice of targets—key U.S. military installations—signals Iran's intent to project power across the Middle East.
This latest development follows a series of confrontations in the Gulf, including the downing of the Apache helicopter and subsequent U.S. airstrikes on Iranian positions. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments, remains a flashpoint.
International leaders have called for restraint, but both sides appear entrenched. The IRGC's statement emphasized that "more severe and widespread strikes" would follow if U.S. attacks continue.
