An Iranian missile strike on Kuwait International Airport early Wednesday resulted in the death of an Indian national and injuries to several others, as tensions between Iran and the United States escalated further.
Attack Details
The strike, part of the latest exchange of attacks between Iran and the US, hit the airport area in Sabah Al Nasser, Kuwait. Debris burned in a parking lot following the missile and drone attacks, as seen in social media videos. The attack occurred on June 3, 2026.
MEA Response
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) condemned the attack, stating: 'We condemn the attack on Kuwait International Airport today in which an Indian national has died and several of our nationals are injured.' The MEA reiterated its strong stance against targeting civilian populations and infrastructure, urging all parties to cease such attacks.
India's Position
'Since the onset of the conflict in West Asia, we have strongly urged that the civilian population and civilian infrastructure must not be targeted. We again call upon the parties to cease such attacks,' the MEA added. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait is providing full assistance to the injured, and Indian missions across the region remain on high alert to support the community.
Broader Context
The attack is part of a series of retaliatory strikes between Iran and the US, heightening regional instability. The MEA's call for restraint underscores India's concern over the escalating violence and its impact on civilians, including Indian nationals working in the region.
