Four Killed, Five Injured in Vadodara Expressway Crash

In a tragic incident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Vadodara, four persons lost their lives and five others sustained injuries when a van traveling on the wrong side of the road collided with a truck late Saturday night.

Accident Details

The collision occurred around 11:30 pm near Samiyala village, on the outskirts of Vadodara city. Police Inspector R V Gohil of the taluka police station confirmed that four people died and five were injured in the crash.

Sequence of Events

The victims were traveling in a Maruti Eeco van from Ampad village in Vadodara to a temple in Mehsana to fulfill a religious vow. The driver, Narendrasinh Rathod, mistakenly entered the Mumbai-bound lane instead of heading toward Ahmedabad. After traveling nearly 4 kilometers, he realized his error. According to police, he then made an illegal U-turn on the same lane and began driving on the wrong side of the expressway.

After covering some distance, the van collided with a truck near the toll plaza in Laxmipura village limits. The deceased were identified as Gauri Solanki, Dalpat Mewada, Narendrasinh Rathod, and Prahlad Barad. Five others were injured, including Kanu Mewada, Ramesh Solanki, Laxmi Solanki, and Dharmishtha Barad. All injured were rushed to a hospital for medical treatment.

Legal Action

The police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. An investigation is underway to determine further details.
