The death toll in the tragic fire incident at a bed and breakfast facility in Hauz Rani, New Delhi, has risen to 23 after a foreign national succumbed to injuries on Wednesday, officials confirmed. The deceased has been identified as a Bangladeshi national who was undergoing treatment for severe burns at a hospital.

Victim Details

According to police sources, out of the 23 victims who lost their lives in the blaze, 14 were foreign nationals. Among them, two were from Bangladesh, while nine of the deceased were Indian citizens. Earlier, on Sunday, a Nigerian national also died while receiving treatment for burn injuries sustained in the fire.

Fire Incident

The fire broke out on June 3 at a bed and breakfast establishment in the Hauz Rani area. A major rescue operation was launched by firefighters and emergency responders. On the day of the blaze, 21 people died. The fire spread rapidly, and the electrically operated room doors and the exit gate allegedly got jammed, trapping several guests inside the building.

Arrests Made

Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the incident: the B&B owner Lovkesh Bajaj, his accountant Jay Mishra, and the establishment's cook. According to police, Mishra was responsible for handling billing, maintaining accounts, supervising staff, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business.
