Clash During Ramdhun Procession Injures Seven in Bihar

Biharsharif: Seven members of a family, including a differently-abled youth, were injured in a clash during a Ramdhun procession at Teldih village under Ariyari police station area of Sheikhpura on Friday night.

Critical Injuries Reported

Two of the injured, identified as Kedar Yadav and his differently-abled son Rajendra Kumar, sustained critical injuries and were referred to Bhagwaan Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences (BMIMS), Pawapuri, after initial treatment at Sheikhpura sadar hospital. Other injured were Nitish Kumar, Satish Kumar, Vipin Kumar, Nishant Kumar and Sushma Devi.

Sequence of Events

According to police, the clash erupted after Rajendra, who was returning home on a tricycle from a family function, asked participants of a Ramdhun procession to make way in a narrow village lane. An argument soon escalated into violence. When Rajendra’s family members reached the spot and protested, the other group allegedly attacked them with sticks and stones, injuring seven persons.

Accused Identified

The accused have been identified as Surendra Yadav, Kailu Yadav, Sintu Kumar and Arjun Kumar, among others.

Police Response

Ariyari SHO Akhilesh Singh said, “We were awaiting a written complaint from the victims’ family to initiate further action.”
