A man from Ambala was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly poisoning a woman and then burning her body in a forest in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district. The accused, identified as Ravi Kumar, was taken into custody after a police investigation that spanned multiple states.
Details of the Crime
According to the police, Ravi Kumar had been in a relationship with the victim, a 35-year-old woman from Ambala. On the day of the incident, he allegedly lured her to a secluded spot in the forest near Nahan, where he administered poison. After she died, he set her body on fire to destroy evidence. The charred remains were discovered by locals who alerted the police.
Investigation and Arrest
The Himachal Pradesh police launched an investigation and tracked Ravi Kumar through mobile phone records and witness statements. He was arrested from his residence in Ambala. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that he had a dispute with the woman over money. The police have recovered the victim’s belongings and the vehicle used in the crime.
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for murder and destruction of evidence. He will be produced before a court in Sirmaur. The police are also probing if he had any accomplices.
