A tragic road accident occurred early Friday morning in Gurdaspur district, claiming two lives and leaving 14 others injured. The incident took place on the Amritsar-Pathankot national highway near Adda Udhowal village when a Tempo Traveller carrying Vaishno Devi devotees collided head-on with a tipper truck.
Details of the Accident
According to preliminary reports, the Tempo Traveller was traveling at high speed when it lost control and rammed into the oncoming tipper truck. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the Tempo Traveller was completely mangled. Emergency response teams, including police personnel, rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured were extricated from the wreckage and immediately transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
Eyewitness Account
Raman Kumar, an eyewitness who was passing by at the time of the collision, stated that the crash caused a significant traffic jam on the highway. However, police quickly arrived at the scene and used cranes to remove the damaged vehicles, restoring normal traffic flow within a few hours.
Police Investigation
Police officials have yet to identify the deceased victims. An investigation has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the accident. Overspeeding is suspected to be the primary factor leading to the collision. Authorities are also examining whether driver fatigue or mechanical failure played a role.

The injured are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the region. Some of them are reported to be in critical condition.
