Hyderabad: Telangana continued to experience severe heat on Friday, with several districts recording maximum temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius. According to data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Munagala in Suryapet emerged as the hottest location in the state, reaching a scorching 45.5 degrees Celsius.
Highest Temperatures Recorded
Khammam and Peddapalli closely followed, both registering 45.1 degrees Celsius, while Jagtial touched 44.9 degrees Celsius. Other severely affected districts included Bhadradri Kothagudem, Kumuram Bheem, and Mancherial at 44.8 degrees Celsius, and Mahabubabad recorded 44.6 degrees Celsius. In Hyderabad, temperatures remained high, with Asifnagar recording 42.4 degrees Celsius.
Red Alert and Temperature Trends
Officials stated that the state remains under a red alert as average temperatures across Telangana hovered close to 46 degrees Celsius, surpassing last year's peak of 45.2 degrees Celsius. Despite isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall in some regions over the past few days, heatwave conditions have shown little sign of easing. Weather officials warned that dry weather conditions are likely to intensify further in the coming days, raising concerns over prolonged heat stress across the state.
IMD Forecast
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at isolated places in Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanumakonda districts. Hyderabad is expected to witness a partly cloudy sky with hazy morning conditions, while maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to remain around 41 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the extreme heat and stay updated with official weather advisories.
