Saudi Arabia Commences Hajj Booking Phase for Domestic Pilgrims
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia has officially initiated the booking phase for domestic pilgrims, encompassing Saudi citizens and expatriates holding valid residency permits. This critical phase follows the earlier data registration period that began on February 23, corresponding to Ramadan 6, marking a significant step in the annual Hajj preparations.
Digital Booking Process via Nusuk Platform
Authorities have mandated that all booking procedures be conducted electronically through the official Nusuk application or website. Pilgrims who successfully registered their data during the initial phase can now access the platform to review available packages, select their preferred option, and generate a booking invoice. The ministry emphasized that this comprehensive digital process is designed to organize seating arrangements efficiently and ensure equitable access to Hajj opportunities for all eligible individuals.
Payments for selected packages are processed exclusively through the SADAD system, Saudi Arabia's national electronic payment network. This integration aims to streamline financial transactions and enhance the overall user experience for pilgrims navigating the booking process.
Strict Payment Deadlines Implemented
The ministry has introduced stringent payment timelines to optimize the booking system. Currently, pilgrims are required to complete their payments within 72 hours of confirming their booking. This deadline will remain in effect until Dhul Qada 27, which corresponds to May 14.
Starting May 15, the payment window will be significantly reduced to just six hours. This adjustment is intended to accelerate the booking cycle and create opportunities for a larger number of beneficiaries to secure their Hajj packages. The ministry has issued a clear warning that bookings will be automatically cancelled if payment is not received within the specified timeframe, underscoring the importance of adhering to these deadlines.
Updated Cancellation and Refund Policies
In conjunction with the new booking phase, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has outlined updated cancellation and refund rules to provide clarity for pilgrims. According to the approved policy:
- Cancellations are permitted without any financial deductions before the issuance of the Hajj permit and up to Shawwal 30 (April 18).
- After the Hajj permit is issued, deductions will apply based on the date the cancellation request is submitted.
- No refunds will be granted for cancellations made from Dhul Hijjah 1 (May 18) until the platform officially closes.
The ministry has urged all prospective domestic pilgrims to promptly book their packages and complete payments within the designated deadlines. Additionally, officials have stressed the importance of carefully reviewing package details, terms, and conditions before finalizing any contracts to avoid misunderstandings or complications.
This move reflects Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to digitize and modernize Hajj management, ensuring a smoother and more organized experience for the millions of pilgrims participating in this sacred annual event.
