Leopard Returns to Army War College Campus in Mhow After Nearly a Year
In a startling development, a leopard was sighted on the campus of the Army War College in Mhow late on Thursday night, marking its reappearance after nearly a year. The big cat's movements were captured by CCTV cameras installed across the campus, prompting immediate action from authorities.
Forest Officials Alerted and Respond Swiftly
Following the sighting, forest officials from the Mhow sub-division were promptly alerted. Mhow range officer Nayan Kumar Palvi confirmed to TOI that he received a call from the AWC administration regarding the leopard's presence near Gate No 4. In response, a forest team was dispatched to the site and conducted a thorough survey of the entire campus on Friday morning.
Search Efforts and Camera Installation
During the inspection of bushy areas on the campus, forest officials were informed that the leopard had been sighted again near Gate No 4, where it was reportedly hiding amid the bushes. The team quickly reached the spot and searched the area extensively, but the leopard was not found. As a precautionary measure, three additional cameras were installed in that specific area to monitor any further activity.
Safety Advisory Issued for Campus Residents and Workers
In light of the incident, forest officials issued an advisory to the AWC administration. This advisory is to be shared with all individuals who reside on the campus or come there for work, emphasizing safety precautions and awareness regarding wildlife presence.
