IMD Issues Temperature Alert for Gujarat as Heat Set to Intensify
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating a significant rise in temperatures across Gujarat, starting from Monday. According to the weather agency, maximum temperatures are expected to increase by 3-5 degrees Celsius over the next four days, while minimum temperatures will rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the coming three days.
Gradual Warming Trend Across the State
This warming trend follows a Sunday where temperatures were already above normal. In Ahmedabad, the maximum temperature reached 34.2 degrees Celsius, which was 1.1 degrees higher than the seasonal average. Similarly, the minimum temperature stood at 21.2 degrees Celsius, marking a notable 4.7-degree increase above normal levels. The IMD anticipates that Monday's temperatures will remain within this elevated range.
Hot and Humid Conditions Trigger Yellow Alert
From March 4 onwards, coastal areas of Saurashtra and Kutch are likely to experience hot and humid weather conditions. In response, the IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for these regions, advising residents to take necessary precautions against the impending heat.
Statewide Temperature Extremes Recorded
On Sunday, Deesa recorded the highest maximum temperature in Gujarat at 36 degrees Celsius, highlighting the early signs of the heat surge. Conversely, Naliya reported the lowest minimum temperature at 15.8 degrees Celsius, though this is still expected to rise in the coming days as the warming trend progresses.
