Heavy Rain Triggers Flash Floods in Mangaluru

A sudden spell of heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning for more than an hour triggered flash floods in several parts of Mangaluru on Tuesday night, disrupting normal life. The short but intense downpour left areas, including Attavar and Car Street, waterlogged, severely affecting movement. Waterlogging at Car Street, Attavar, and Pumpwell led to traffic disruption and inconvenienced motorists.

Marodi gram panchayat recorded the highest rainfall at 98 mm, followed by Bala with 75 mm, Padil 72.5 mm, Kukkipady 69 mm, and Kotekar and Pandeshwar with 67 mm each. The heavy rain also caused damage in parts of the district.

Damage Reported

A huge tree was uprooted and fell on the road near Bramha Shri Narayana Guru Circle, while a compound wall collapsed near Sahodaya Hall in Balmatta. Authorities are assessing the situation and clearing debris to restore normalcy.
