Gujarat Weather Shift: Rising Temperatures, IMD Predicts Rainfall in Northern Regions
Gujarat Weather: Rising Temps, IMD Forecasts Rainfall in North

Gujarat Experiences Temperature Surge Amid Weather Pattern Shift

As temperatures climbed significantly across Gujarat on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a forecast predicting rainfall in specific regions of the state. This weather development comes amid a notable increase in both minimum and maximum temperatures, with many areas recording readings well above their seasonal norms.

IMD Issues Rainfall Alert for Northern Districts

The meteorological department has specifically warned about light thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in the districts of North Gujarat region, including Banaskantha and Patan, as well as in Kutch. This weather advisory is effective for Thursday and Friday morning, indicating potential disruption in these areas.

The change in weather conditions is attributed to a Western Disturbance manifesting as a trough in middle and upper tropospheric westerlies, according to official statements from the weather department. This atmospheric phenomenon is driving the current weather pattern shift across the region.

Temperature Analysis Reveals Significant Increases

Minimum temperatures rose appreciably throughout Gujarat, with multiple locations reporting substantial deviations from normal levels:

  • Naliya recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 10.4°C
  • Amreli measured 14.6°C (2.6 degrees above normal)
  • Rajkot reached 14.8°C (1.9 degrees above normal)
  • Deesa climbed to 15.3°C (4.9 degrees above normal)
  • Bhuj registered 15.4°C (3.5 degrees above normal)
  • Gandhinagar hit 16°C (3.2 degrees above normal)
  • Ahmedabad rose to 16.8°C (4.3 degrees above normal)
  • Vadodara peaked at 19°C (5.6 degrees above normal)

Maximum temperatures followed a similar upward trend, with several cities experiencing notable increases:

  1. Surat recorded 32.4°C
  2. Vadodara reached 31.8°C
  3. Amreli and Bhavnagar both measured 31.5°C
  4. Ahmedabad and Rajkot registered 30.8°C
  5. Gandhinagar reported 30.5°C

These maximum temperatures ranged from 1 to 4 degrees higher than normal seasonal expectations, indicating a widespread warming trend across the state.

Weather Outlook and Temperature Projections

The IMD has indicated that no significant change in minimum temperatures is expected until Saturday. Following this period, temperatures are projected to decrease by approximately 2-3 degrees Celsius before gradually rising again by 2-4 degrees Celsius in subsequent days.

This weather pattern represents a significant departure from typical seasonal conditions for Gujarat, with the Western Disturbance playing a crucial role in driving both the temperature increases and the predicted rainfall in northern regions. Residents in affected areas should remain prepared for potential weather disruptions while monitoring official updates from meteorological authorities.
