A 40-year-old woman has lodged a complaint at C Division police station in Jamnagar against three individuals for allegedly defrauding her and others of Rs 6.7 lakh under the pretense of arranging employment overseas and withholding their passports.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the woman, identified as Ila, was seeking work to support her children after separating from her husband. Through family connections, she and her brother Gautam were introduced to Nizam Sama and Rijwana Sora, who allegedly promised to secure high-paying jobs in Russia for a fee of Rs 4 lakh per person.
The victims subsequently met the accused and handed over their passports to another accused, Rajendra Rajgor, at his residence in Kedar Park, Jamnagar. The accused later claimed that visas for Armenia had been arranged and demanded an additional Rs 50,000 per person for flight tickets. In total, Rs 4.5 lakh was taken from Ila's family and Rs 2.2 lakh from another victim named Rana.
When the promised visas were not delivered, the victims demanded a refund and the return of their passports. The accused allegedly evaded them, stopped responding to calls, and eventually switched off their phones. Realizing they had been cheated, the victims approached the police and lodged a complaint.
Police have registered a case under Sections 316(2), 318(4), and 54 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
