The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) has introduced a dedicated bus service connecting Kalaburagi city to the newly operational Kalaburagi Airport. The initiative aims to improve last-mile connectivity for passengers and promote air travel in the region.
Service Details
The new bus route will operate from the Kalaburagi bus depot to the airport, with multiple trips scheduled throughout the day. The service is designed to align with flight timings, ensuring seamless transfers for travelers. KKRTC officials stated that the buses will be equipped with modern amenities to provide a comfortable journey.
Official Launch
The service was officially launched by Kalaburagi Bus Depot-1 Divisional Controller S G Gangadhar, along with Depot-2 Divisional Controller Basanthappa B M and other senior officials. During the launch, Gangadhar emphasized KKRTC's commitment to enhancing public transport infrastructure in Karnataka.
Impact on Travelers
Local residents and frequent flyers have welcomed the move, citing improved accessibility to the airport. Previously, passengers relied on private taxis or auto-rickshaws, which were often expensive and unreliable. The new bus service is expected to reduce travel costs and provide a reliable alternative.
Future Plans
KKRTC is also exploring the possibility of introducing similar services to other airports in the state, depending on the success of this pilot project. The corporation aims to integrate bus routes with air travel to boost tourism and economic activity in Karnataka.
