India on Saturday participated as the Country of Honour at the annual Consular Corps Cultural Charity Gala Dinner 2026 in Shanghai, a key event of the diplomatic community in the city.
India's Participation Highlights
Consul General of India in Shanghai Pratik Mathur represented India at the event, which brought together consuls general and senior diplomatic representatives from over 70 countries, along with members of the business community and other distinguished guests, for an evening celebrating cultural diversity and international friendship.
Cultural Performances
India was among only four countries selected to present cultural performances. The Indian showcase highlighted yoga, described as India’s enduring gift to the world, alongside classical music and dance traditions. A Kuchipudi performance was among the key cultural presentations of the evening.
Diplomatic Remarks
In his remarks, Mathur emphasised India’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family), underlining New Delhi’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation, mutual understanding, and engagement with the Global South. He also spoke about the role of cultural exchanges in deepening people-to-people ties.
He further invited diplomats, investors and business leaders to visit India and explore opportunities arising from the country’s economic growth, digital transformation, infrastructure expansion, sustainability initiatives and innovation ecosystem, reiterating India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
