Four Drown in Tapi River Near Kakrapar Dam

A tragic incident occurred in Surat district on Tuesday, where four persons drowned in the Tapi River near the Kakrapar dam. The series of events began when a young man who had taken his cattle for grazing near the river failed to return home. His brother and two other individuals later entered the river while searching for him and also met with a similar fate.

Details of the Incident

According to officials, 23-year-old Kaushik Chaudhary, a resident of Vankal village in Mandvi taluka, had gone near the river on Monday with his cattle. When he did not return until late evening, his family grew concerned. His brother, Sahil (25), along with Ganesh Chaudhary (43) and Pravin (35), set out in search of him.

Early Tuesday morning, while searching, the trio reportedly discovered Kaushik’s clothes lying near the Khedpur riverbank. Suspecting that he might have entered the water and encountered trouble, they ventured into the river to look for him. However, all three are believed to have been trapped and drowned in the strong currents.
