Delhi Rain Disrupts Flight Ops, Airport Issues Advisory

Heavy rainfall in Delhi on Wednesday caused significant disruptions to flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport, prompting airlines including IndiGo, Air India, and Air India Express to issue advisories for passengers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier forecast heavy showers for the national capital and surrounding regions.

Flight Delays and Cancellations

Several flights were delayed or diverted due to low visibility and waterlogging on the runway. Passengers experienced long waiting hours at the terminal as airlines scrambled to reschedule departures. An airport spokesperson advised travelers to contact their respective airlines for real-time updates on flight schedules.

Airlines Issue Advisories

IndiGo, Air India, and Air India Express released statements urging passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. IndiGo mentioned that operations were affected due to adverse weather conditions, while Air India advised passengers to allow extra travel time. Air India Express also warned of possible delays and cancellations.

The airport authority deployed additional staff to manage the situation and ensure passenger safety. Waterlogging on the airside and surrounding roads added to the challenges, with some vehicles stranded near the airport.

Passengers are advised to stay updated through airline websites and apps. The weather is expected to improve by evening, but further disruptions cannot be ruled out.
