Mangaluru: A tragic incident occurred in the Gundya stream in Kadaba on Friday, where two girls, including a teenager, reportedly drowned. The deceased have been identified as Arpita, aged 15, and her cousin Sunita, aged 21.

According to police reports, the incident took place at Kutrupady village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Kadaba police station. The two girls had gone to the stream along with their family members. Police suspect that the duo entered a deeper section of the stream without being aware of the water's depth, leading to the drowning.
Rescue Efforts
Although those accompanying them attempted to rescue the girls, their efforts were unsuccessful. A search operation was later launched, and both bodies were eventually retrieved from the water.
A case has been registered at the Kadaba police station, and further investigation is underway. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the dangers of swimming in unfamiliar water bodies.
