Lightning Strikes Claim Two Lives in Giridih

Two persons, including a 12-year-old boy, lost their lives and four others sustained injuries in lightning strikes that occurred at two separate locations in Giridih district on Wednesday evening, as confirmed by officials.

Incident Near Sakri River

The first incident took place near the Sakri river in Chandauri under Tisri police station limits. The victims were identified as 12-year-old Aman Kumar and 26-year-old Noonmani Turi, both of whom died after being struck by lightning. Another individual, Raju Kumar, suffered severe burn injuries and is receiving medical attention.

Second Incident at Chandauri Bagiya

In a separate incident at Chandauri Bagiya, three persons—Chandan Kumar, Charan Ravidas, and Mohammad Aftab Ansari—sustained critical burn injuries when lightning struck an open structure where they had taken shelter during heavy rain.

Official Statement

Rajendra Prasad, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Khori Mahua, confirmed the fatalities, stating, "A child was among two killed in lightning strikes. Four injured persons are undergoing treatment." The injured were initially treated at Tisri and Chandauri hospitals before being referred to Giridih for advanced medical care.
