In a daring heist, valuables worth approximately Rs 1.2 crore were stolen from a jewellery store in Bengaluru. The incident came to light on Thursday, a day after the shop was closed for the night.
Details of the Theft
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the shopowner, he had closed the store around 9:15 pm on Wednesday. Before leaving, he secured all gold ornaments in a locker. However, silver items were left in the showcase, which the thieves targeted.
The burglars managed to break into the store and made off with the silver articles, along with some gold items that were not properly secured. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated at Rs 1.2 crore.
Police Investigation
The local police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. They are examining CCTV footage from the store and nearby establishments to identify the culprits. Preliminary investigations suggest that the burglars may have had prior knowledge of the store's security arrangements.
The shopowner expressed shock over the incident, stating that he had taken all necessary precautions. He urged the police to expedite the investigation and recover the stolen valuables.
This incident has raised concerns among other jewellers in the area, who are now reviewing their own security measures. The police have advised shopowners to install advanced security systems and ensure that all valuables are securely locked away before closing.
