Bokaro: A suspected poaching incident has raised concern in the Bagodar forest range in Giridih after a female deer was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Saturday. Preliminary observations conducted on Sunday suggest that the animal may have been attacked with an arrow, as injury marks resembling a sharp projectile wound were found on its body.
According to locals, the injured deer was seen running rapidly through the Budhachanch forest area, crossing near the local temple and heading towards Atka village before collapsing in a field. Villagers later shifted the carcass near a tree and alerted the forest department.
Officials from the forest department reached the site promptly and took possession of the animal's body. Forester Dilo Ravidas said, "Visible injury marks were found on the deer's body and the findings of the post-mortem examination will clarify whether the death was caused by hunting or another factor. Following the examination, the carcass was buried as per protocol."
Rana Pratap Singh, a resident of Budhachanch, said the deer appeared severely wounded while fleeing through the forested stretch. Forest officials are awaiting the post-mortem report.
