At least 89 people were killed as unseasonal rain, thunderstorms, and lightning wreaked havoc across Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. The severe weather conditions caused widespread damage to property and infrastructure, prompting immediate response from state authorities.
Chief Minister's Directive
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the tragic loss of lives and the extensive damage caused by the natural calamity. He directed officials to ensure that relief reaches the affected families within 24 hours. The state government has mobilised disaster response teams to assist in rescue and relief operations.
Impact and Damage
The storms, accompanied by strong winds and heavy rainfall, uprooted trees, damaged homes, and disrupted power supply in several districts. Agricultural fields have also been affected, raising concerns about crop losses. The state administration is working to assess the full extent of the damage.
Relief Measures
Relief camps have been set up in the worst-hit areas to provide shelter and essential supplies to those displaced. The government has announced compensation for the families of the deceased and those who lost property. Medical teams have been deployed to prevent any outbreak of diseases in the affected regions.
Officials have been instructed to expedite the disbursement of financial aid and ensure that all necessary support is provided to the victims. The chief minister has also urged citizens to remain cautious and follow safety advisories as the weather department predicts more rainfall in the coming days.
The state government is coordinating with district administrations to restore normalcy and repair damaged infrastructure at the earliest. Power and communication lines are being restored on a priority basis.
