Kalyan: Timely medical intervention saved the life of a one-year-old girl who swallowed a sharp hairpin that became lodged in her throat. The child, identified as Pragya Vishwakarma, was playing at her residence in Kaka Dhaba, Kalyan East, when she inadvertently placed the hairpin in her mouth. As the pin became stuck in her throat, she began experiencing severe breathing difficulties.
Rush to the Hospital
Her family immediately rushed her to the nearby Janaki Global Hospital, a private facility, for emergency treatment. Upon arrival, doctors conducted an X-ray scan, which revealed the hairpin dangerously positioned in her throat. The medical team noted that the pin had sharp ends and could have proven fatal if not removed promptly.
Non-Invasive Procedure Saves the Day
A team of doctors, led by Dr. Ganpati Kini and Dr. Jitendra Gupta, sedated the child and performed a non-invasive endoscopic procedure to extract the pin. The child's condition stabilized after the procedure, and she was discharged after a day of observation on Thursday.
