CES 2026 Showcases Breakthrough TV Tech: LG, Samsung, TCL Lead Display Revolution
CES 2026 TV Innovations: LG, Samsung, TCL Unveil Future Displays

This year's CES in Las Vegas focused heavily on display technology advancements. While smartphones typically dominate later events like Mobile World Congress, CES 2026 put laptops and televisions in the spotlight. These are the two main areas where people spend long hours staring at screens. Let's explore the exciting television innovations that stole the show.

LG Wallpaper TV: A Bright and Thin Marvel

The LG Wallpaper TV immediately grabbed attention at the company's CES booth. With a stunning thinness of just 9mm, this television catches every eye, even from a casual glance. It has been eight years since the original model debuted in 2017. Now, the new version boasts four times the brightness of conventional OLED sets, thanks to the Brightness Booster Ultra technology. This feature makes it a strong contender for success in 2026.

The TV also includes a low-reflectance coating that reduces glare and reflections effectively. It offers a 165Hz refresh rate at 4K resolution and an impressive 0.1ms response time. For connectivity, the Wallpaper TV comes with a Zero Connect Box. This box manages all inputs and outputs, allowing lossless 4K video and audio broadcast up to 10 meters away.

TCL X11L SQD-Mini LED TV: Flagship Innovation

TCL introduced the X11L SQD-Mini LED TV as the latest addition to its flagship lineup. Pricing starts at $7,000 for the 75-inch model, $8,000 for the 85-inch, and $10,000 for the massive 98-inch version. TCL promotes its new Deep Colour System, which leverages Super Quantum Dots (SQD). This system combines with the CSOT UltraColor Filter and the Advance Colour Purity Algorithm for superior performance.

SQD technology uses a single-chip pure white light source, differing from the true red, green, and blue light sources in rival Micro RGB TVs. The design features "ZeroBorder" bezels and a slim 0.8-inch cabinet, making it almost an "art" television.

Hisense 163MX/RGB Mini-LED TVs: Colour Expansion

Hisense unveiled the 163MX TV with an all-new four-colour MicroLED display. This display produces standard reds, greens, and blues, plus an additional yellow colour. Adding yellow LEDs enables the 163MX to achieve up to 100% of the BT2020 colour range.

The TV boasts a super-thin design, measuring only 32mm in width, and includes zero-gap wall mounting for better aesthetics. Hisense claims it offers finer detailing and deeper contrast than high-end models from competitors like LG, Sony, and Samsung. For 2026, Hisense is reviving Mini-LED TVs under the name RGB Mini-LED TVs, adding a fourth primary colour—cyan or sky blue—to improve colour fidelity across several models.

Samsung's Bold Moves: 130-inch Micro RGB and Movingstyle

Samsung made a strong statement at CES 2026 with the world's first 130-inch Micro RGB TV. This television features a built-in 'Timeless Frame' stand, blending the Frame design language with the Timeless Gallery TV design from over a decade ago. It utilizes Samsung's RGB Colour Booster Pro and Micro RGB HDR Pro technologies, along with a Glare Free Matte display.

Samsung also updated its Movingstyle portable TV. The new version has a 27-inch touchscreen and supports HDR10+, Dolby Atmos, and Samsung's Object Tracking Sound Lite technology for crisp detailing and 3D virtual surround sound. Its rolling and detachable design allows it to follow you from room to room, powered by a battery that lasts up to three hours.

Amazon Fire TV Redesign and Ember Artline TVs

Amazon Fire TV has faced criticism in the past for its design and user interface. At CES 2026, however, the company received praise for a significant redesign. The new version puts content at the center while simplifying navigation and layout. A refreshed Fire TV app accompanies these changes.

Design improvements include consistent typography, rounded corners, increased spacing between content, and an expanded horizontal app row. Alexa+ access is integrated seamlessly. Additionally, Amazon introduced Ember Artline TVs, which come with frames to match your room's style and colours. Available in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes, both models feature 4K QLED screens with 450 nits of brightness. Customers can choose from 10 frames, each offering various colours, textures, and geometries.
