"We just announced the first Beta for Android 17! To get updates into your hands faster and more consistently, we've replaced the traditional developer preview program with the Canary release channel. This gives you a year-round way to try out new features and share your feedback while we're still building them," he elaborated.
This strategic pivot means that instead of waiting for large quarterly updates, new features and tools will be released as soon as they successfully pass internal testing. Notably, these updates will now be delivered "over-the-air," eliminating the need for testers to manually connect their devices to a computer for installation, as confirmed by the official Android 17 beta blog.
