The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a directive to complete all water pipeline projects by June 15, ensuring readiness before the monsoon season. Out of 760 approved projects, 350 have been finished, while work continues on the remaining 28.
Pipeline Work and Road Restoration
The pipeline installation is being carried out alongside road restoration efforts across the Patliputra, New Capital, Kankarbagh, and Patna City circles to mitigate waterlogging. However, the execution has encountered resistance from some local residents.
PMC Commissioner's Statement
PMC commissioner Yashpal Meena stated that the civic body is undertaking pipeline extensions, pump house construction, boring installations, and repair works. "PMC is currently executing 26 pipeline projects in 15 wards and seven pump house and boring projects in six wards. Engineers conduct daily inspections, while the control room records GPS-stamped updates," he said.
Progress by Circle
According to PMC data, in the New Capital Circle, pipeline work is underway in ward 16 (Saristabad, Shriram Path, Gautam Nagar, Purvi Tola, Thakur Gali) and ward 19 (Agarwal Press Gali), while work on a tubewell in ward 9 is 95% complete. In the Patliputra circle, pipeline extensions are in progress in wards 7, 5, 22A, 26, and 27. In Kankarbagh, laying work is underway in ward 30 and replacement work in ward 31. In Bankipore, excavation is in progress in wards 36, 38, 42, and 47.
In Azimabad, work is ongoing in wards 57, 56, and 61. In Patna City, pipelines are being laid in wards 62, 67, and 71, with boring work in wards 67 and 66.
Maintenance and Repairs
For maintenance, pipeline repairs are underway in wards 44, 54, and 58, while repairs have been completed in wards 36, 39, 42, and 47. Water supply has been restored in ward 47 after replacement of a motor. Officials stated that teams are working in two shifts to ensure uninterrupted summer supply.
