Ranchi: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is actively conducting a survey across Jharkhand. This survey targets 82 popular tourist destinations in the state. These locations include scenic waterfalls and important religious sites.
BSNL Aims to Fill Connectivity Gaps
The primary goal is to provide reliable mobile and internet services in areas where other telecom operators currently offer limited or no coverage. BSNL's Chief General Manager, Vipul Agrawal, confirmed this initiative in a recent conversation.
4G Services Coming to Tourist Hotspots
Agrawal stated that BSNL will roll out 4G services at the selected tourist spots. This rollout is scheduled for the next financial year. The move aims to enhance the experience for visitors and locals alike.
Furthermore, the company has sent a proposal to its corporate office. This proposal seeks approval for installing more 4G towers across Jharkhand. The objective is to achieve blanket coverage of BSNL services throughout the state.
Massive Tower Installation Plan
As part of this expansion, BSNL plans to install at least 250 new towers in the coming financial year. Agrawal provided specific details on other ongoing projects.
He mentioned that a project to set up 816 4G towers in left-wing affected areas of Jharkhand is nearing completion. This project is expected to be finished by February 15 of this year.
Another project involves installing 755 towers for 4G saturation. This initiative is set for implementation by March 30. Once both projects are complete, BSNL will have approximately 3,000 operational towers in Jharkhand.
5G Services on the Horizon
Looking ahead, Agrawal revealed that BSNL is also considering launching 5G services in the state. A proposal for this next-generation network is currently under review.
If approved, BSNL intends to provide 5G facilities in at least six major cities of Jharkhand. This rollout is also planned for the next financial year, marking a significant technological upgrade for the region.
This comprehensive plan underscores BSNL's commitment to bridging the digital divide. It focuses on improving connectivity in remote tourist areas while expanding high-speed internet access across the state.
