Unemployed Brothers Build Rs 7 Crore Patna Mansion with Cyber Fraud Money
Unemployed Brothers Build Rs 7 Crore Mansion via Cyber Fraud

What started as a routine fraud investigation in Bhojpur took an unexpected turn. The cyber cell traced the money trail to a massive construction site in Patna's upscale Ram Krishna Nagar. Police discovered a five-storey mansion being built there. The real surprise came next. The property belonged to two brothers from Nawada who had no jobs.

Luxury House with No Legal Income

Bhojpur Cyber DSP Sneh Setu addressed reporters on Monday. He revealed arresting Vikash Kumar and Vishal Kumar from Manjhwe village in Nawada. The brothers claimed to work in the share market. Investigation proved otherwise. They were completely unemployed. Their father also had no job.

Despite having zero legitimate income, they were constructing this luxurious house. DSP Setu estimated its value at around Rs 6 to 7 crore. The location is one of Patna's prime areas. This raised immediate red flags for authorities.

Income Tax and EOU Alerted

The police have alerted key agencies. The Income Tax Department and the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) will now probe the duo's finances. Their main task is uncovering the source of funds for this expensive construction. How did unemployed individuals finance such a project? That is the central question investigators are trying to answer.

The Fraud That Exposed Them

The case came to light through a complaint from Ara resident Subodh Kumar. He reported fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3,09,922 from his bank account in September 2025. Fraudsters had called him posing as election officials. They duped him of nearly Rs 3.10 lakh. Their method involved sending an OTP and tricking him into revealing bank details.

Sophisticated Modus Operandi

DSP Setu explained the technique used by the accused. During the probe, police found the victim's mobile number linked to his bank account had been ported to another SIM card. The fraudsters used this to create a UPI ID. They then scanned it and withdrew money from ATMs across Patna.

Cyber police have collected multiple CCTV footage clips. These show the accused withdrawing cash from various ATM machines. So far, technical evidence has established cyber fraud worth Rs 60 lakh against the arrested brothers. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Brothers Amassed Crores Through Fraud

Authorities believe the brothers operated a larger cyber-fraud racket. They allegedly siphoned crores of rupees from unsuspecting victims. Their arrest in their village marks a significant breakthrough. The sprawling mansion in Patna stands as physical evidence of their alleged illicit gains.

This case highlights a growing trend of cyber criminals funding lavish lifestyles with stolen money. It also shows the diligence of Bhojpur's cyber cell in following the money trail from a simple complaint to a major discovery.
