Noida Cyber Crime Police Nab Man in Fake Luxury Travel Package Scam
Cyber crime police in Noida have made a significant arrest, apprehending a 33-year-old man accused of orchestrating a fraudulent scheme involving fake luxury international travel packages. The suspect, identified as Aditya Raj Singh, allegedly deceived more than 60 individuals by offering unrealistically low-priced trips to destinations such as Singapore, Nepal, Vietnam, and various European countries.
Modus Operandi and Arrest Details
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber Crime) Shavya Goyal, the police received multiple tipoffs regarding the fake travel agency. Utilizing electronic surveillance and local intelligence, authorities tracked down Singh and arrested him from the Amrapali Society. During the operation, police seized three mobile phones and a laptop as evidence.
Investigations reveal that Singh had been operating this scam for an extended period. He posted enticing advertisements on popular platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Google, promoting luxurious yet budget-friendly travel packages. Once potential customers responded, he would contact them, persuading them to book the trips and transfer payments in advance into his bank accounts, falsely assuring them that tickets and accommodations were confirmed.
Scam Mechanics and Financial Impact
After receiving the payments, Singh would send fabricated booking details to the victims. However, he would later cancel these bookings and pocket the refunds, leaving the customers stranded without their promised trips. Police estimate that he cheated people of nearly Rs 12 lakh through this elaborate fraud. Authorities are currently interrogating him to uncover any possible accomplices and determine if a larger criminal network is involved.
Rising Trend of Similar Cases
Cyber crime police have noted a concerning increase in similar fraudulent activities in recent months. For instance, on January 5, 2026, an IT professional from Sector 62 lost Rs 2.5 lakh in a fake tour package scam. Other incidents include a woman cheated of Rs 1.8 lakh in Sector 137 in December 2025 and a businessman defrauded of Rs 3 lakh in Sector 50 in November 2025.
Police Advisory for Public Safety
In light of these events, police have issued a strong advisory urging citizens to exercise caution when booking travel packages online. Recommendations include verifying the registration, office address, and customer reviews of travel agencies before making any payments. Authorities also warn against transferring money through unknown links or apps and advise the public to be wary of offers that create a false sense of urgency for immediate payment.
