New Delhi: The Delhi Police's Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations unit has registered a First Information Report (FIR) following a complaint lodged by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) regarding a series of coordinated cyberattacks targeting its Post-Result Services Portal. The case has been filed under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act, and an investigation has been initiated, according to police officials.
Details of the Cyberattack
The CBSE portal, which was launched on June 2 to provide Class XII students with services such as verification and re-evaluation of answer scripts, came under repeated cyberattacks over the past three days. The attacks allegedly involved large volumes of malicious traffic originating from multiple IP addresses, both within India and abroad. These coordinated efforts aimed to disrupt the portal's functionality and compromise its services.
Legal and Investigative Actions
The FIR has been registered under the Information Technology Act, which addresses cybercrimes and unauthorized access to computer systems. The Delhi Police's specialized unit is now investigating the source of the attacks, the methods used, and the extent of any data breach. Authorities are working to trace the IP addresses involved and identify the perpetrators behind these coordinated assaults.
The CBSE has assured students and parents that all necessary measures are being taken to secure the portal and ensure uninterrupted access to essential services. Students relying on the portal for re-evaluation and verification processes are advised to stay updated through official channels.
This incident highlights the growing threat of cyberattacks on critical educational infrastructure in India. The Delhi Police and CBSE are collaborating to strengthen cybersecurity protocols and prevent future incidents. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
