Danapur police made a significant breakthrough on Thursday night by arresting ten members of an interstate cyberfraud gang. The operation dismantled a network actively involved in cheating people across multiple states.
Massive Haul of Evidence Seized
Officers confiscated a large cache of items allegedly used in the fraudulent activities. The seized materials include 38 ATM cards, eight SIM cards, and 18 cellphones. Police also recovered two laptops, two motorcycles, and a passport with a visa.
Investigators found a vehicle owner's book and cash in multiple foreign currencies. Several documents linked to the scam were taken into custody as well.
Additional Items Uncovered
Danapur ASP Shivam Dhakad provided further details about the seizure. "Other seized materials include 14 Aadhaar cards, seven PAN cards, and three driving licenses," Dhakad stated.
Police discovered two cheque books from different banks and a post office passbook. The haul also contained five watches and a cooperative bank gold loan receipt.
An electric board, a pen drive, and a card reader were among the technical items recovered. Officers seized an earphone, four mobile chargers, and a Bluetooth device too.
Modus Operandi Revealed
During interrogation, the accused admitted their methods. They used SIM cards provided by gang members to contact potential victims.
The fraudsters cheated people on the pretext of arranging loans. This deception formed the core of their criminal operations.
Ongoing Investigation
Police are now investigating the gang's wider network thoroughly. They aim to determine where else the gang operated in Bihar and other states.
Authorities seek to uncover how many members were involved in total. Investigators also work to identify how many victims were targeted by this criminal group.
