Guntur: Vignan's University has signed a landmark memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bengaluru-based Intel Technology India Pvt Ltd to strengthen artificial intelligence (AI) education and industry readiness among students. The MoU documents were formally exchanged at a programme on campus, with university registrar Prof PMV Rao handing them over to Saloni Singhal, senior programme manager for the Asia Pacific and Japan region at Intel India.
Objectives of the Partnership
In-charge vice-chancellor Prof KV Krishnakishore said the primary objective of the partnership is to equip students with AI skills aligned to rapidly expanding job opportunities in the digital era. He said the university will focus on building a comprehensive understanding of AI, enhancing technical competencies, and fostering independent learning abilities among students. The initiative will also aim at developing technology, career and social skills required for employment, while encouraging students to design AI-driven solutions to address industry and societal challenges.
Training and Certification
Under the collaboration, specialised training programmes will be conducted for faculty and trainers. Students will receive co-branded certificates and guidance on career opportunities. The university is also planning to expand the initiative into structured certificate, diploma and degree programmes. The vice-chancellor added that faculty members will be selected and trained in line with industry requirements, while necessary resources will be mobilised for effective implementation. Awareness programmes and wider outreach through digital platforms will also be undertaken.
Intel India's Perspective
Singhal said Intel India is pleased to partner with Vignan's University to prepare students for emerging technologies, particularly AI, and help them become future-ready in a fast-evolving digital landscape. As part of the event, 601 students who successfully completed Intel-designed courses were awarded certificates. Winners of the AI Smart Campus Hackathon were also presented with cash prizes and commendation certificates. Intel India national operations manager Vikram Parmar, Vignan institutions chairman Dr Lavu Rathaiah, along with faculty members and students, attended the programme.
