Sify to Double Investment in UP, Boosting AI Hub Vision
Sify to Double UP Investment for AI Cities

In a significant boost to Uttar Pradesh's ambitions of becoming a global centre for digital innovation, Sify Technologies has pledged to significantly increase its financial commitment to the state. The company's chairman and managing director, Raju Vegesna, announced plans to double Sify's investment in UP over the coming three years.

Meeting with CM Yogi Charts AI Future

The major investment announcement came following a high-level meeting between Raju Vegesna and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow on Tuesday. The discussions centred on driving AI-led digital transformation and the ambitious development of dedicated AI Cities in Lucknow and Noida.

An official spokesperson, citing the Chief Minister, emphasised the transformative potential of the technology. "AI is set to bring transformative change across governance, industry, healthcare, education, and manufacturing in the coming years," the statement said. It further highlighted that the UP government is actively fostering an ecosystem for AI-based investments by building strong digital infrastructure and creating supportive policies.

Substantial Existing Investments and New Projects

During the meeting, Vegesna informed the Chief Minister that Sify has already deployed substantial capital in the state. The company has invested over Rs 12,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh in the last five years. This capital has primarily been used to establish advanced data centres in Lucknow and Noida.

The Sify chairman provided key updates on ongoing and planned projects:

  • The AI Edge Data Centre in Lucknow is nearing completion.
  • Plans are actively underway to develop a large hyperscale AI campus in the vicinity of the Lucknow facility.
  • In Noida, Sify is already operating North India's largest AI data centre campus, known as 'Noida-02'.
  • Another major AI campus is proposed to be built alongside the existing Noida-02 campus.
  • The company's first green hyperscale data centre, 'Noida-01', is operational and serves a diverse clientele of over 100 enterprise, government, and hyperscale customers.

Seamless Connectivity for AI Workloads

A critical component of this infrastructure expansion is connectivity. The emerging AI clusters in Lucknow and Noida will be seamlessly linked through Sify's extensive national fibre network. This interconnection is designed to enable high-speed, low-latency data transfer, which is essential for running complex and time-sensitive AI workloads efficiently across locations.

This renewed and expanded investment from a major technology player like Sify Technologies provides a powerful endorsement of Uttar Pradesh's strategy to position itself at the forefront of India's digital and artificial intelligence revolution. The move is expected to accelerate job creation, attract further tech investments, and catalyse innovation across key sectors in the state.
