The Science and Technology Park (STP) at Savitribai Phule Pune University is set to launch three new centres of excellence in the near future. This announcement was made during an event held at the Pune International Centre to commemorate STP's 40 years of operations. A coffee-table book celebrating four decades of work was also released at the occasion.
New Centres of Excellence
The new centres will include a centre of excellence in innovation and technology management in policy research, another in geoinformatics, and a global capability centre. These centres aim to bolster research and development in key areas.
Incubation and Funding Achievements
Rajendra Jagdale, Director General of the park, informed reporters that STP has provided incubation services to 1,372 startups and secured funding for 260 of these entities. Additionally, 659 projects across various sectors have been completed in all states, and 26 products have been brought to the market.
Former Secretary of the Union Department of Science and Technology, Ashutosh Sharma, emphasized that acquiring high-quality knowledge naturally leads to financial returns. He stressed the need to devote greater attention to this aspect. Noting the current era of artificial intelligence, Sharma underscored the necessity to embrace change, as per the STP's official release.
