In a significant development for the upcoming India AI Impact Summit 2026, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang will not be traveling to India for the high-profile event, the company has officially announced. According to a Reuters report, the cancellation is attributed to "unforeseen circumstances," though specific details were not disclosed.

High-Profile Absence at Premier AI Gathering

Jensen Huang, widely regarded as one of the headline attractions for the five-day summit, was originally scheduled to address the media on February 18. His absence marks a notable change in the lineup for what is poised to be a landmark gathering of global tech leadership. Nvidia has emphasized that it will send a high-level delegation to represent the company at the event, and it reiterated its deep commitment to India's rapidly expanding artificial intelligence and semiconductor ecosystem.

These pillars branch into seven 'Chakras' or working groups, designed to foster comprehensive discussions and collaborations. Organizers have received over 700 session proposals, indicating robust interest and engagement.

Complementing the summit, the India AI Impact Expo will span an extensive area of over 70,000 square metres. It is expected to feature more than 300 exhibitors from 30 countries across seven thematic pavilions, showcasing innovations and advancements in AI technology.

Why India Attracts Global Tech Giants

India's burgeoning AI landscape presents a massive business opportunity for global technology firms. The country generates nearly 20% of the world's data, boasts the second-largest AI workforce globally, and has over 700 million internet users. This vast digital ecosystem provides a fertile ground for companies to tap into a growing consumer and industrial base.

Recent strategic moves underscore this trend. Anthropic has hired former Microsoft India Managing Director Irina Ghose to lead its India operations, while OpenAI has established a dedicated sales division in the country. Additionally, tech giants like Google and Microsoft have partnered with the Indian government to promote AI integration in education.

In a supportive policy move, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently announced a 21-year tax holiday for data centres, a measure widely seen as a significant step to bolster India's information technology sector and attract further investment in AI infrastructure.

Despite Jensen Huang's absence, the India AI Impact Summit 2026 remains a pivotal event, highlighting India's ascendant role in the global artificial intelligence arena and its appeal to the world's leading technology innovators.
