Kochi: Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (Kufos) has announced the launch of a new five-year integrated programme in climate science and data analytics, in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Centre for Climate Studies (ICCS).
Programme Overview
The newly introduced Kufos-ICCS five-year integrated programme is designed as a future-focused course that combines core climate science with advanced data analytics. It aims to prepare students for emerging roles in climate research, environmental forecasting, and data-driven policy making.
"With climate change increasingly impacting ecosystems and economies, the programme seeks to build interdisciplinary expertise among students to address real-world environmental challenges," said a university official.
Eligibility and Admission
The course is open to students with a higher secondary science background, specifically in physics or mathematics, and a minimum of 55% marks. Admissions will be based on the Kufos entrance examination. The intake for this academic year is limited to 25 seats.
Extended Application Deadline
Incidentally, the university has extended the last date for submission of applications for its undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes to May 19.
Other Courses Offered
Kufos offers a wide range of courses across its faculties, including fisheries science, ocean science and technology, fisheries management, and fisheries engineering. Postgraduate options include multiple specialisations in MFSc and MSc programmes, along with LLM, MBA, MTech, and PhD courses. The university has also earmarked two seats in all postgraduate programmes for NRI candidates.
