Haryana Chief Minister Champions AI Integration for Local and Global Impact
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has articulated a compelling vision for artificial intelligence (AI), positioning it as a fundamental driver in realizing the national objectives of "Vocal for Local" and "Make in India." Speaking at the TiE AI Summit–2026 held in Chandigarh on Saturday evening, Saini described the theme "Glocal AI – Real Impact" as not merely a conceptual framework but an urgent necessity of our times. He stressed that global technological advancements must be seamlessly integrated with local needs to foster meaningful and sustainable development.
AI's Expanding Role Across Critical Sectors
The Chief Minister elaborated on how AI has transcended its status as a standalone technology to become an indispensable component across multiple vital sectors. In healthcare, AI is revolutionizing disease diagnosis and treatment, enhancing accuracy and improving patient outcomes. Within the education system, it is strengthening personalized learning approaches, catering to individual student needs and optimizing educational delivery.
For the agricultural sector, AI tools are empowering farmers by boosting productivity, facilitating access to better markets, and adding significant value to their produce. Furthermore, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are leveraging AI to enhance operational efficiency, thereby gaining a competitive edge and unlocking new opportunities in the global marketplace.
India's Leadership and the Haryana AI Mission
Saini credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for propelling India into a leading role globally in AI research, innovation, and the formulation of responsible policies. To further this momentum at the state level, a significant proposal was announced: the establishment of the "Haryana AI Mission."
This ambitious initiative has secured an assurance of assistance worth Rs 470 crore from the World Bank. The mission's core plan includes setting up one AI hub each in Gurugram and Panchkula. These hubs are designed to be centers of excellence, with a goal to train approximately 50,000 youth in cutting-edge AI and related new technologies, thereby building a robust future-ready workforce for the state and the nation.
The Chief Minister's address underscored a strategic shift, viewing AI as a critical enabler for holistic growth—bridging the gap between global innovation and local application to drive tangible progress across society.
