Google's Gemini AI Assistant Reaches 750 Million Monthly Active Users

During its fourth quarter earnings call, Google announced a significant milestone for its artificial intelligence assistant, Gemini. The company revealed that the app has now surpassed 750 million monthly active users (MAUs), marking a substantial increase of 100 million users from the previous quarter's figure of 650 million MAUs.

CEO Sundar Pichai Highlights Momentum and Growth

Google CEO Sundar Pichai expressed enthusiasm about the platform's progress, stating that the launch of Gemini 3 represented a major milestone for the company. He emphasized that Google has great momentum in the AI space. Pichai provided specific details about the scale of operations, noting that first-party models like Gemini now process over 10 billion tokens per minute through direct API usage by customers.

Enhanced User Engagement Following Gemini 3 Launch

The earnings call revealed that user engagement with the Gemini app has increased significantly, particularly after the December launch of Gemini 3. Pichai reported that users are spending more time with the application and utilizing it more frequently compared to earlier versions. While Google did not disclose precise engagement metrics, company officials confirmed that usage trends have improved consistently quarter over quarter.

Substantial Cost Reductions for Gemini Operations

In a remarkable development, Google has achieved substantial cost savings in operating its Gemini platform. Pichai announced that Gemini's serving unit costs were reduced by 78 percent throughout 2025. This dramatic decrease was attributed to several factors including model optimizations, improved efficiency, and better infrastructure utilization. These cost savings are expected to facilitate broader deployment of Gemini across Google's extensive product and service ecosystem.

Strategic Partnerships with Apple and Reliance Jio

Google disclosed newly formed partnerships with technology giant Apple and Indian telecommunications leader Reliance Jio. Although specific implementation timelines were not shared, Pichai indicated these collaborations will significantly expand Gemini's technological and commercial presence across additional platforms and geographical regions, with particular emphasis on the Indian market.

Rapid Adoption of Gemini 3 Pro

The Gemini 3 Pro model has demonstrated exceptional market acceptance, achieving what Pichai described as the fastest adoption of any AI model Google has launched to date. Since its release, Gemini 3 Pro has been processing nearly three times as many daily tokens on average compared to its predecessor, Gemini 2.5 Pro. The model now leads Google's initiatives in advanced reasoning and multimodal understanding capabilities.

Gemini 3 Pro also powers Google Anti Gravity, an innovative development platform that enables AI agents to plan and execute complex software tasks. This platform has already attracted over 1.5 million weekly users within just over two months of its launch.

Expanding API Usage and AI Integration Across Products

Google's first-party AI models, including Gemini, now handle more than 10 billion tokens per minute through direct customer API usage, representing an increase from 7 billion tokens per minute in the previous quarter. The company continues to integrate AI features across its product portfolio, having launched new personal intelligence features in AI Mode within Google Search and the Gemini app during January alone.

Looking forward, Google plans to continue expanding AI-powered tools across its platforms throughout the coming months, building on the current momentum in user growth, engagement, and technological advancement.
