AI Adoption Outpaces Training at Workplaces, 71% Expect Role Changes
Mumbai, January 18 (PTI) – Artificial Intelligence adoption in workplaces is racing ahead of corporate training programs. A new report highlights this growing gap as employees prepare for rapidly evolving job responsibilities.
Survey Reveals Training Deficit
The Genius HRTech and Digipoll report surveyed 1,704 professionals across various sectors in November 2025. It found that 61% of respondents said their organizations have not provided adequate guidance on effective AI usage. Only 37% reported receiving proper training.
This lack of structured support influences how employees view AI adoption within their functions. The report shows 55% believe AI adoption is driven by necessity, while 37% feel it is trend-driven rather than need-based.
Workforce Expectations Shift
The report identified a deeper shift in workforce expectations. A substantial 71% of respondents believe their roles or responsibilities will significantly change in the next 2-3 years due to AI integration. This reflects both anticipation and uncertainty among professionals.
Already, 67% of respondents have started using AI tools to simplify or automate their daily work. This demonstrates how quickly the technology is being adopted across different roles.
Mixed Experiences with AI Implementation
The shift to AI isn't completely smooth. While 69% of respondents said AI has made their work processes simpler, 25% felt it has added complexity. This suggests AI cuts down on repetitive tasks but can also create new challenges for some employees.
Trust Remains a Significant Barrier
Trust in AI-generated insights remains a concern. Only 49% of professionals said they trust AI-generated insights without manual cross-verification. Meanwhile, 36% do not trust them, and 15% argued that trust varies depending on the task.
Industry Perspective
Genius HRTech chairman and managing director RP Yadav commented on the findings. "AI is no longer a distant concept, but it's now shaping daily workflows across industries. While professionals value the efficiency it brings, they also expect companies to equip them with the right training and clarity. The future workplace will thrive only when human intelligence and AI complement each other, not compete," he said.
The report clearly shows that as AI becomes mainstream in workplaces, the gap between adoption and training continues to widen. Organizations must address this training deficit to help employees navigate the changing landscape effectively.
