A tragic incident occurred at a hospital in Nashik on Monday, where a female employee lost her life after her head became trapped in a small freight elevator, police confirmed.

Details of the Incident

Jyoti Shivaji Ahire, 50, a contractual worker at Dr Vasantrao Pawar Medical Hospital, College and Research Centre, was peering into a dumbwaiter lift around 10:30 am when the accident happened. According to police, she inserted her head to check if the lift was moving, but it suddenly descended, causing severe head injuries.

"She put her head inside to see whether the lift was moving, when it suddenly came down, causing severe head injuries to Ahire. She succumbed to her injuries," police said.

A case has been registered at Adgaon police station, and further investigations are ongoing. Authorities are examining the circumstances leading to the fatal incident.
