Krishnagiri: In a significant drug bust, two youths were arrested for selling ganja near Shoolagiri in Krishnagiri district during the early hours of Monday. The arrested individuals have been identified as K Murugesh, 25, and S Mathesh, 24, both residents of Kottangarai village. They were employed as painters at a prominent private heavy motor vehicle factory near Hosur.

Details of the Operation

The arrests were made when police intensified surveillance in Pattaguruparapally following a tip-off that cannabis was being sold in the area. During the operation, officers noticed the two men standing suspiciously with two-wheelers near a private quarry. Upon approaching them, the police conducted a search of their bags and discovered ganja hidden inside. A total of approximately 10 kilograms of ganja was seized, along with the two two-wheelers used for smuggling.

Investigation and Motive

Subsequent investigation revealed that the duo was involved in selling cannabis after their working hours, aiming to earn additional income. They were allegedly procuring the contraband and distributing it in the region. The police have registered a case at the Shoolagiri police station.

Legal Proceedings

The arrested individuals were produced before the Hosur sub-court and later lodged at the Salem central prison under judicial custody. The authorities are continuing their investigation to trace the source of the ganja and any other individuals involved in the network.
